The Origin of the Chapter
On Saturday, May 18, 1985 at 3 pm, 11 antique truck enthusiasts met at the home of Bud Ritz in Sylvania, OH. Those present were:

Those present were enthused about forming a chapter of the ATHS to promote the antique truck hobby, preserve local trucking history, and to assist each other in their common interest.
The name "Black Swamp Chapter" was chosen to encourage all ATHS members in the area to join. Chapter meetings were to be held quarterly at various members' homes or shops with spouses and family welcome. Membership grew quickly before the second meeting in July, and the following members were called the Charter Members of the club:
